This Honeydew Smoothie is an incredibly refreshing way to start the day! It’s made with honeydew and lightly sweetened with dates and coconut for a light and delicious smoothie recipe.

Honeydew doesn’t get the credit it deserves. It’s incredibly versatile, affordable and refreshing. In my opinion, it’s perfectly delicious on its own, but even more delicious in smoothie form.
Recipe features
- A fresh way to enjoy honeydew
- An easy smoothie recipe that’s ready in just 5 minutes!
- Lightly sweetened with dates, and it’s is dairy-free and vegan-friendly
Ingredient notes:
Honeydew – Buy a whole one, cut it up and then use 1 cup of it for this smoothie, and save the rest for later or to eat on its own
Spinach – Can sub other kind of greens if you prefer. I like spinach because you really can’t taste it, but you could sub 1/2 cup of kale instead
Dates – Medjool or Deglet, just make sure they’re pitted.
Oats – Rolled or old fashioned, not quick, and if you’re gluten free make sure to use certified gluten free oats
Coconut – Preferably unsweetened, since this smoothie is already fairly sweet on its own
Milk – Any kind! I usually opt for almond or oat.
FAQs and Tips
I recommend purchasing a whole honeydew rather than pre-cut honeydew. Typically, pre-cut honeydew isn’t as fresh, mostly because it was cut days prior. Plus, cutting honeydew yourself takes less than 5 minutes, and it’ll make the smoothie taste better, trust me!
Substitutions: See the ingredients list above
Can I make this ahead of time?
You can! You can make any smoothie the night before, but just know that the texture will be a bit different, and you’ll definitely have to stir the smoothie well before drinking it.

I love how wholesome this feels.
honeydew and coconut? Intriguing! I will have to give it a go.
You are indeed very trendy with your choice of food. I find it amusing how in the past few years certain food are going up and down like colours do during fashion week. Hilarious. Keep up the good work, and NEVER stay out of food fashion )
You just reminded me of how much I love Honey Dew! I haven’t had any yet this season! Ah!
Your smoothies are always so creative (and beautiful) – I will admit I’ve held a grudge against honeydew for a while just because they’re ubiquitous in fruit cups but this might be a good excuse to branch out!
This is gorge!! I keep meaning to throw honeydew in a smoothie (or bowl) but just haven’t done it. Your’s has really got me convinced to go to the store and bring me home a honeydew 😉 Haha, thanks for the motivation.
Smoothie bowls are incredibly trendy at the moment, and I always fail to make mine look decent. How do you people keep the topping from falling in the smoothie? Seems like a lot of hard work to me! Nonetheless this is a beautiful looking bowl, and I can literally taste the melon sweetness!
Haha! Place the toppings on veryyyyy gently… 😀
Don’t add water, it won’t be as thick and if you freeze your fruit first it’ll be thicker which means not as many liquids need to be added!
I love the idea of using coconut milk in a smoothie!! I always go with almond milk but I think I might try changing it up.
Almond milk is my go-to as well, but coconut milk is definitely a nice change from time to time.
So here I’ve been, drinking smoothies out of a glass like a total lame-o and entirely unaware that you could make a bowl full of fruity deliciousness. This is an intriguing concept!
Yeah!! They’re the best 🙂
