Hi, I’m Erin! Welcome to The Almond Eater, a place where you’ll find wholesome, healthy (ish) recipes and photography.
I started The Almond Eater back in 2013 when I found myself at a mediocre job where I had way too much time on my hands. Fast forward to today, where this blog, along with freelance photography and recipe development, is my full-time job. It still shocks me, but I’m so, so happy I get to create and photograph food every day.
When I first started this site, it was a food and fitness (and sometimes fashion…) blog, but in 2015 I declared it a food-only blog when I realized that was the type of content I was most excited to create. Everything you see is self-taught, and most recipes created in 2016 onward were tested at least twice before I posted them to the blog.
A few things about me:
•My favorite part of blogging is photography and the ability to connect with so many like-minded people on a daily basis. I’m a little biased, but the food blogging community is beyond friendly and I’ve met some of my best friends through blogging.
•I live in Pittsburgh with my husband and together we are mildly obsessed with our dog, Layla.
•In real life I am way too sarcastic, so I try to tone it down a bit online (oddly enough, sarcasm doesn’t always translate well online…).
•Favorite foods include: avocado toast (that’s a food in itself, right?), iced lattes, homemade pizza, eggs, and roasted chickpeas.
•Least favorite foods: mustard and pickles (I never use them in recipes because I can’t even stand the smell!).
