These Cinnamon Chocolate Chip Overnight Oats combine cinnamon, chocolate chips, cacao, and maple syrup into one tasty bowl of oats!
Can we all just agree that chocolate for breakfast is never a bad idea? Good, glad we’re on the same page. Today I want to talk about certain expectations for weddings these days, and how I feel about them.
First of all, let me just say that I love Pinterest. Love. I go on it every day, multiple times a day. It’s good for promoting my own work of course, but it’s REALLY good for getting ideas for all sorts of things, including weddings. I do have a ‘Wedding’ board started and I love getting ideas from Pinterest. There are SO many creative things and I would never think to implement myself. That being said, I also think there are certain expectations for brides these days thanks to Piterest. Well, I don’t want to say it’s strictly because of Pinterest because it’s not, but I don’t think Pinterest necessarily helps.
I could talk about this topic in general, but I mainly want to talk about the concept of getting your bridesmaids gifts to ask them to be in your wedding. I know this is a thing—I know—but is it wrong of me to not want to? I love my friends, but do I need to get them a monogrammed sweatshirt to prove that? I know this is a bit controversial because I completely understand it but… I also don’t. Also, I would never ever get my bridesmaids monogrammed sweatshirts. Sorry.
So anyway.. I understand the gift idea—it’s cute, it’s thoughtful and it’s fun—but is it necessary? Am I a bad friend or a bad bride if I don’t get them anything other than a card? Perhaps I should just gift them these oats??!! Now THAT’S an idea I can get on board with. ….only not because I would have just ruined the surprise. Bridesmaids—if you’re reading this, you probably don’t know who you are yet. Just know that I’m still mulling it over (clearly). This is only the beginning of my indecisiveness when it comes to wedding planning. GAH.
Enough about my whining though.. let’s chat about these oats. I’ve mentioned a few different times that I try to eat a variety of breakfast foods these days since I’ve gone a little overboard with eating eggs in the past. I switch it up with eggs, oats, smoothies, and some sort of baked good on a regular basis. I love oats, but I especially love them when they involve chocolate. I can’t explain it, or perhaps I don’t need to. Sweet cinnamon paired with chocolate-y chocolate chips makes for one SWEET breakfast. Use dairy free chips and make it vegan while you’re at it!
PS- As I’m sitting here typing this, it is thunder storming outside and Layla is just sitting on the bed, cool as a cucumber, just looking out the window. I always wondered how she’d react and, well, now I know!
