How was your weekend? What did you doooooo? I shall not tell you about my weekend because I did nothing. Well, by “nothing” I mean that Miguel and I saw ‘Black Mass’ (crazy movie, btw) and I got coffee with a friend so…. sort of close to nothing. It was good though!
I also just realized that it’s been a month since Miguel and I went to Puerto Rico. Bahhhhhh how?! In a way that makes sense, but in another way it feels like it was just yesterday. Stay with me—there’s a reason why I’m bringing this up. Warm weather, beautiful beach, killer resort, delicious cocktails….. you get where this is going. While in PR, we stopped at a bar called La Factoria, where they made and served many unique drinks. One of their most popular drinks? A lavender mule. From the moment I took my first sip I knew I wanted to recreate it. IT WAS SO GOOD I MAY OR MAY NOT HAVE HAD MULTIPLE. Ok I did.
Truthfully, I tried my first ever moscow mule about three months ago, so to say I’m obsessed would probably be a lie BUT, they are so, so good. And refreshing! Know what else is refreshing? Lavender. I went through a brief lavender obsession in May when I made these Lemon Lavender Muffins with Honey Yogurt Glaze but then I kind of forgot about it. Before PR, I’d never tried in a drink but man—it is just as refreshing as it sounds.
Can I give you a piece of life advice? When you’re standing on a tall step stool shooting photos and your overhead fan is on, do NOT, under any circumstances, remove your hand from the camera and throw it in the air. The fan WILL hit your hand and it WILL hurt. Like, one of those hurts where it hurts so bad you start laughing to keep from crying. Yeah…. FUN.
Thank goodness for alcohol to numb the pain HAHA……half kidding. If you’re looking for a super refreshing lavender-ginger bev, this is it.
- 1 bottle (12 oz.) ginger beer
- ¼ cup vodka
- 1½ cup water
- ½ cup sugar
- 2 tbsp lavender
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- Grind lavender up in a food processor or blender so that it's extremely fine, almost flour-like; set aside.
- Heat water and sugar in a pot over stove until sugar is dissolved.
- While that is heating, combine beer, vodka and lemon juice together in a large bowl.
- Once sugar and water have combined to form simple syrup, add in lavender and stir; add mixture into bowl with alcohol.
- Let bowl chill in the refrigerator for at least 20 minutes, allowing flavors to come out.
