Strawberry Banana Overnight Oats - a healthy make-ahead breakfast option | thealmondeater.com
These Strawberry Banana Overnight Oats are an easy make-ahead breakfast that's both fruity and delicious.

Aren't overnight oats the best? Please tell me you're just as obsessed as I am. If you haven't tried them, they're basically oatmeal but cold, which is ideal during the summer months when it's hot and the last thing you want is a hot breakfast. Truth be told, I'm normally an eggs-for-breakfast kind of gal, but recently I've been craving something different. If there's one thing I know about me and food it's that I crave variety. I know plenty of people who eats oats every day and are satisfied, but I've found that whipping up banana overnight oats once or twice a week is ideal.

WHY THESE BANANA OVERNIGHT OATS ARE THE BEST

  • These oats take just five minutes to prepare. FIVE MINUTES! Few recipes take such little time to make.
  • They combine the two best fruits--strawberries and banana--into one, healthy recipe
  • They're sweetened with honey, which also goes great with banana

OVERNIGHT OATS RECIPE

For this recipe, you'll need just a handful of simple ingredients:
  • old fashioned oats (rolled oats)
  • milk of choice
  • yogurt*
  • honey
  • banana
  • strawberries
*I recommend using plain or strawberry-flavored yogurt. If you want to keep this recipe dairy free, simply use your favorite dairy free yogurt (personally, I love Forager).

HOW TO MAKE OVERNIGHT OATS

Overnight oats are REALLY easy to prepare, and like I said, they'll only require five minutes of your time.
First, add oats to a bowl or mason jar then set them aside.
Next, whisk milk, yogurt and honey together until they're well combined.
Then, pour the wet ingredients over top of the oats and use a spoon to stir them together.
Last, add chopped strawberries and banana to the bowl, then you'll place the bowl in the refrigerator (or divide mixture into cups) and refrigerate the oats overnight.
Viola, that's it! Strawberry banana is a classic flavor combination, whether it's in smoothie or oats form, and adding yogurt to the oats will make them even creamier. These strawberry banana overnight oats are a quick, healthy grab-and-go breakfast, meaning they're the perfect thing to enjoy at work or maybe even on your way to work?! The possibilities are endless.

    Erin!

I was inspired to try some overnight oats from your post, but I didn't feel like going to the store, so I used what I had and kind of made up my own recipe. I wanted to share because it's so yummy!

    2/3 cup oats
    2/3 cup skim milk
    1 tablespoon grape jelly
    1 tablespoon peanutbutter
and then I had some raspberries, so I threw those in there last night and some fresh ones on top this morning
(as you can see, I scrounged up whatever I could find that might go together and threw it in a mason jar haha!)

This was so good! Thanks for the inspiration!

This is random but your shirt/ top is really cute. And this is the second day in a row I see mason jars on blogs which means I really need to get some now 😉 .
The first - and only so far - time I tried overnight oats was years ago and I wasn't a fan. Something about the cold oats just didn't do it for me. Yogurt - plain soy or Greek mixed with coconut flour - is a yay for me and taking a clue from Amanda I've been adding some on top of my hot oat bran every now and then. It's pretty good.

I used to eat overnights oat back in the day... haven't for a while. Oatmeal doesn't fill me up. BUT... I have been snacking on oat-protein ball things as my pre-breakfast snack.

LOVE YOGURT. I'm on such a greek yogurt kick.

Glad you're back on the yogurt wagon to start loving thicker overnight oats! I love that giraffe shirt and you holding your portable mason jar- so cute! I need to try overnight oats, but I tend to want them room temp or hot 🙂

Mhmm looks great! I'm not the biggest yogurt fan unless it's mixed in with fruit and topped by granola. Then=yum.

LOVE the giraffe shirt by the way!

I went on an overnight oats kick for about a week last year when I first discovered it and I really liked it! But then I forgot about it for a year. I'm think I need to bring it back now, because this look delicious!
I love all kinds of yogurt. One of my absolute fave flavors is the cafe latte greek yogurt (by oikos I think). So good!

I put Greek yogurt in everything, but I never eat it alone. First time I tried overnight oats was probably about a year ago, and it was so soupy and gross that I couldn't eat it! That's one of the main reasons that I'm public enemy #1 of the health living community 😉

Obsessed with yogurt... like literally don't know what I would eat if I couldn't have it. I could easily go through a 500g tub every day, but I try to ration myself a little better and make it last longer 😆 It's seriously one of my fave things to eat, though, especially when oats, fruit, cereals, and nut butter are involved 😀

Oh the pictures make it look so nice and neat. My jar will look like a drunk individual prepared it. 😛

I have had overnight oats several times. I have never incorporated anything other than oats and milk, but I would love to try the yogurt and honey!
