January Things

I’m absolutely blaming the holidays, but I forgot to write a “December Things” post, so I’m making today’s extra long and talking about what I was up to in both December and January. Hope that’s ok! Also, I apologize in advance if any of this is repetitive to things I’ve said in my blog posts—I obviously can’t remember what we’ve talked about.
Back in December I posted a photo on Instagram of roasted chestnuts. If you want the truth, I hated everything about it and have zero plans to ever roast chestnuts again. IT TOOK FORVER. Or rather, it takes forever and, though they’re tasty, they’re not worth the effort (in my not-so-humble opinion).
I feel like I already said this, but Layla cracked her back tooth a few days before Christmas and had to have it removed the same day we drove down to DC. She was on so many drugs and was so out of it—I felt so bad! Note to dog owners: be super selective about the kinds of bones you give your dogs. I mean, do what you want, but that’s how she cracked her tooth and now I make sure to get only a specific few kinds for her #divadog
While in DC, Miguel, his cousins and I went to a nearby trampoline park… I’d never been to one before but OMG they’re SO much fun, and also a sneaky workout. My upper back and calves were seriously sore the next day.
I started helping Jessica with her cookbook about two weeks ago and it’s honestly so much fun. It’s challenging but exciting and often times it’s us working together to figure out what looks best for each recipe (i.e. appropriate backdrop/props/overall feel of the photo/close up shot vs. super styled shot/etc.). I love it and am already so grateful to her for taking a chance on me.
I’m so, so, so excited for ‘Girls’ to start up again, along with Orange Is The New Black, Stranger Things and Narcos. ….ok, I’m getting way ahead of myself I KNOW.
For not doing a recap since November, you’d think I’d have more to inform you guys about, but right now I think that’s all I got! Same old, same old in a good way!

Hi Erin
Loved your photo of the roasted chestnuts. I gives me the festive feel somehow. I used to roast nuts like macadamia, and almonds, which didn’t take long, but still I haven’t done it for a while.
Sorry hear about Layla, hope she feel much better now.
I actually watched season one of Orange Is The New Black with my wife but somehow I didn’t get round to watching season two. I’ve just finished watching Westworld, its awesome. Stranger Things is next on my list, I heard its really good.
You’ll love Stranger Things! I’m anxiously awaiting season 2 which apparently isn’t coming out until October… gahhh!
Poor Layla! I’ve never been to a trampoline park before, but I can see how it would be awesome!
Yes! They’re so much fun.
Ohhh poor doggie! I hope she’s better now? And I’m so jealous of your trampoline park visit – it’s like playtime for adults! I want to go too!
She IS better now, thankfully. And yes omg the trampoline park was super fun and now I want to find one closer to home I can go to 😀
