These raw fig bars are an easy breakfast, snack or dessert and require just 5 ingredients and a food processor to make!Â
*This recipe was originally published in 2014 but has since been updated to better serve you. It's still the same great recipe, though!
Raw fig bars might just be my new favorite treat. I'm all about a no-bake snack, especially when the weather starts getting warmer, and these guys require just FIVE ingredients! I also feel like figs don't get enough love. No, scratch that--dried figs don't get enough love. Everybody loves fresh figs--they're tasty on their own, on pancakes, on toast--but what about when they're not in season aka the majority of the year? Dried figs are delicious and deserve a healthy recipe focused on them.
Like I mentioned in the first sentence, this is an old recipe that I decided needed some new photos and updated content. You may have noticed by now, but I've been slowly going through and updating some of my old blog posts, and as I do, I feel a strong sense of nostalgia. I remember originally creating and photographing this recipe back in 2014 like it was yesterday. I had basically zero food props, so I used a cutting board as my backdrop, but it really didn't matter. Food photos weren't as big of a deal back then (if you've been reading blogs that long then I'm guessing you remember this too?!). Now, everything has to be beautiful, but I don't hate it--the hardest part is keeping up with the ever-changing industry. But, I digress.Â
These raw fig bars are such an easy snack recipe that can be whipped up in MINUTES, so I figured I'd walk you through it.Â
RAW FIG BARS
- dried figs
- walnuts
- almonds
- maple syrup
- cacao (or cocoa powder)
The key to these bars are the maple syrup. You thought I was going to say the figs, didn't you? Well yes, obviously you can't make fig bars without figs, but the maple syrup is what allows everything to come together nicely in the food processor.Â
HOW TO MAKE RAW FIG BARS
I'd love to walk you through how to make these, but they're honestly TOO easy. You ready? You'll add the "dry" ingredients like the walnuts, almonds, cacao, and figs to your food processor and pulse for about 30 seconds. Then, with the motor still running, you'll add the maple syrup in through the top. This should make everything stick together, and the mixture should turn into a giant ball. Last, you'll use a spatula to spread the mixture into an 8x8 baking pan and place it in the refrigerator until it's hardened before cutting it into bars.
I’ve found that these fig bars are perfect at breakfast. With only 5 ingredients, these can be made in a matter of minutes and clean up is a cinch.Â
HEALTHY BAR RECIPES
5 Ingredient Raw Fig Bars
Ingredients
- 1 ¼ cup dried figs
- ½ cup walnuts
- â…“ cup raw almonds
- 2 tablespoon maple syrup
- 2 teaspoon cocoa powder
Instructions
- Place walnuts, almonds, figs and cacao into a food processor; pulse until mixed.
- Then, with the motor still running, pour maple syrup in through the top. This should help everything to come together. Pour into a medium-sized bowl; add maple syrup and stir.
- Line an 8x8 dish with parchment paper, then scoop mixture into the dish, using a spatula to press down and smooth everything out. If mixture it too sticky, spray spatula with nonstick spray (that usually does the trick for me!).
- Place dish into the refrigerator for at least an hour; cut into bars and enjoy!

These look delicious. And don't judge me, but every time I feel like making some kind of energy bites, I take the lazy-girl's way out and just dunk the dried fruit into some almond butter instead 😆 Not -quite- the same, but still gets the job done.

Eh, why my blender broke, and I can't prepare this yum? I love all snack with nuts so it is sure that would fall in love with them! Besides, something with a fig always tasty 😀
Amy @ Long Drive Journey says
I know I keep saying it, but your pictures are looking SO good, girl!! I don't eat nuts, BUT these look great so I'm going to figure out some substitutions so that I can make them. I always fail at homemade bars (they fall apart), but I'm still determined to make it work!

These look super delicious lady. I need to get myself some dried figs to try out in a bar/ball recipe of my own that I've been working on. I was trying to use something else but it isn't quite working, and I think figs will be the ticket! Happy short day of work!
