Did you always want to be a food blogger?
Not quite. I started reading healthy living blogs way back in the day and decided to start my own in 2013 because I was in desperate need of a hobby. Fast forward to 2015 when I lost my job and took on blogging full time, along with two freelance food photography jobs. It wasn't until October 2015 that I declared The Almond Eater a strict food blog. Before that, TAE was a food AND fitness blog, but I realized my passion was the entire food blogging process; from brainstorming recipes, to recipe testing and development, to food photography, editing, and writing about food, the process excited me much more than writing about fitness. Now, TAE is a place people can come to for quick, mostly simple and wholesome recipes, and I'm thankful every single day that I get to do what I love for a living and for readers like YOU who make it possible. I couldn't do it without you!

Though food blogging is my main gig, I also teach barre classes at The Barre Code Pittsburgh. Stop by and take a class if you're ever in the area!

What kind of diet do you follow?
I follow the 'no diet' diet and it's pretty awesome. Some days I eat meat, some days I don't; some days I eat dairy; some days I don't. I live my life label-free and, though this doesn't work for everyone, it works for me. The only constant in my diet is real, mostly healthy food. And coffee. Always coffee.

How many calories are in this recipe?
I'm sorry but I'm not sure. I try to focus on whole foods and real ingredients rather than calories both in my personal diet and on this blog. Some day I may add a calorie count to my recipes, but for now I'm just keeping it real with the ingredients I use.

What's your favorite food?
SUCH a tough question...probably chocolate covered pretzels, cooked kale, eggs, avocado, iced coffee, and pizza.

What kind of camera do you use?
All of my photos are shot with a Canon 6D and either my 50mm 1.2L lens or my 100mm 2.8 lens. If you want to learn more about food photography and how to take gorgeous photos on a budget, check out my ebook.

Do you take all of your own photos?
Yes, I take all of my photos unless stated otherwise.

Do you ever work with brands or companies?
Yes! Developing recipes for brands I'm a fan of is part of what I do. You can find out more collaboration information on my contact page.

Where do you live?
I currently live in Pittsburgh, PA with my husband Miguel, aka my #1 taste tester. I have a deep love for Pittsburgh, despite the fact that it isn't the sunniest place on earth.

What kind of dog is Layla?
After resisting for nearly two years, Miguel and I finally did a DNA test for Layla. Apparently she is part Beagle, Treeing Walker Coonhound, Dachshund, Boxer, and the rest is just a complete mutt!
