What kind of blogger would I be if I didn’t post a green smoothie recipe in January? I meeeeean seriously. This isn’t just any green smoothie though—it’s a BANANA BREAD smoothie. Aka one that tastes like bananas and cinnamon. MMMMMM.
As for my ‘smoothie a day’ challenge, well, it’s been going…..ok. I haven’t had one every day, but I’m also not a super strict person. I have had one almost every day though, so I think that counts for something!
This smoothie is packed with flavor and nutrients like banana, almonds, walnuts, spinach or kale (you choose!), cinnamon, and hemp seeds, because I can’t make a smoothie and not include either hemp seeds or chia seeds. If you don’t already include them in your smoothies, you should! They’re packed with protein and fiber and literally taste like nothing.
What are your weekend plans? I’m hanging out with Miguel, Isabel and her fiancé tonight, and tomorrow her, Alexa and I are speaking about photography at a workshop! I’m excited, but also a little nervous because I haven’t done any public speaking since college and I was never any good at it to begin with sooo send good vibes my way please!
Aside from that, I’m just trying to make some recipes (standard) and hopefully have a relaxing Saturday and Sunday. Oh! And drinking smoothies of course.
Tip: For this smoothie, either use a large handful of spinach OR a very small handful of kale. Why? Because kale is more bitter than spinach and, in my opinion, doesn’t blend as well in smoothies. BUT, it still works! Just remind yourself to use less kale than you normally would spinach.
Though I try not to make all of my smoothie recipes have a banana base, banana is such an easy ingredient to put in your smoothies. However, it’s usually not the main flavor, to I decided to make it the star of the show. This smoothies tastes like bananas and cinnamon and it’s super thick and uses ingredients you should already have on hand. Now that’s my kinda recipe!

- 2 bananas
- 1 handful of spinach or kale
- ¼ cup walnuts
- ¼ cup almonds
- 2 tbsp hemp seeds
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- ½ tsp vanilla extract
- ¼ tsp nutmeg
- 1 cup almond milk
- Add all ingredients to a blender and pulse until smooth.
