Vegan Chocolate Chip Cookies

  • 1/2 cup dairy free butter softened
  • 2 tablespoon coconut oil softened
  • 3/4 cup light brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup cane sugar
  • 2 tablespoon applesauce
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/3 cup all purpose flour + 2 tablespoon packed
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2/3 cup chocolate chips dairy free


  • Preheat 350°.
  • Cream butter, coconut oil, brown sugar, and cane sugar together for about 1 minute. Then, add the applesauce and vanilla.
  • In a separate bowl, stir the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt together.
  • Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix with an electric mixer until the dough comes together. Then, stir in the chocolate chips by hand.
  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or grease with nonstick spray. Use an ice cream scooper to scoop the dough onto the baking sheet, making sure to space the cookies apart. Bake for 11-13 minutes, then remove from the oven and wait 2 minutes before transferring them onto a cooking rack.

*You want the coconut oil to be softened similar to the butter. If you're making these during the wintertime, the coconut oil might be a little hard, so you'll have to microwave for 5 seconds or so. 
*If you're using unsalted butter, make sure to add the 1/2 teaspoon of salt; if you're using salted butter, omit the salt 
*Storage: store cookies in a container at room temperature for up to 48 hours, or freeze them for up to 1 month
