Blackberry Thyme Margaritas

These Blackberry Thyme Margaritas are made with a blackberry simple syrup, tequila, lime juice, and a little sparkling water and are a refreshing way to enjoy your favorite cocktail!

for the simple syrup:

  • 6 oz. 1 cup blackberries fresh or frozen
  • 2 sprigs fresh thyme
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup granulated sugar

for the margaritas:

  • 1/4 cup blackberry simple syrup
  • 4 oz. tequila
  • 3 tbsp lime juice
  • Sparkling water


  • Begin by making the simple syrup: add berries, thyme, water, and sugar to a saucepan and bring to a boil. Then, reduce heat to a simmer and simmer for 10 minutes, using a wooden spoon to break down the blackberries.
  • Remove saucepan from the heat and pour the mixture through a strainer and into a pitcher; discard the blackberries. Allow the syrup to cool to room temperature before using it.
  • For the margaritas: Salt the rim of 2 glasses (optional) and fill each one with ice. Add tequila, lime juice and 1/4 cup simple syrup to a cocktail shaker and shake for 15 seconds. Pour into the glasses, then top them off with sparkling water. Enjoy!
