Hi guys! Today I’m linking up with Jenn for What I Ate Wednesday and showing you eats from my weekend along with some weekend fun. I’m going to try to not make it too long, but I’m also not making any promises.
Thursday evening Miguel and I went out to eat at Houlihan’s in Station Square. I had been there before and remembered it being ok, but I mainly just wanted to sit outside. Imagine my face when I saw that they recently (or at least within the past year) added plenty of organic and gluten-free options to their menu AND a lot of their protein is locally-raised. I ended up ordering the Grilled Salmon Panzanella salad, which I polished off in no time.
I was very impressed. Since Miguel and I were already over in Station Square we decided to go up to Mount Washington and get some ice cream. If you’re ever in Pittsburgh for a day, that’s probably the one thing I’d recommend doing. You can either take the include up or drive up. Once you’re at the top, there are a few different platforms that overlook the whole city–perfect for photos! Anddddd one block away is a soft-service ice cream shop. So good!
Friday, aka the Fourth of July, was spent mainly indoors doing blog things. I know, I know, so lame. But I did manage to make a delicious (if I do say so myself) dinner consisting of BBQ turkey meatballs, roasted red potatoes and broccoli.
After dinner we quickly headed out the door to go see the Pittsburgh Riverhounds play. The Riverhounds is/are Pittsburgh’s soccer team and they recently got a stadium in Station Square overlooking the city. We went to a game last year and I loved it then and I loved it just as much this time around. It was even cooler, though, because our seats were perfect for firework watching.
Seeing as I didn’t take any photos Saturday, I’m going to assume I didn’t do anything exciting. The reeeeeal excitement was on Sunday when my friend…errrr um… Carleigh, had friends over for a cookout! PS all of my friends request that I call them by their real names instead of ‘my friend’ so…. that’ll be happening. I love/hate them.
ANYWAY, Carleigh lives downtown in a beautiful building that also happens to have a rooftop deck with a grill and picnic table on it. I had never been on the deck before, but I must say I was impressed.
The meal consisted of burgers and macaroni salad and asparagus and fruit and chips and salsa and wine. So basically, it was perfect.
And afterward we took several pictures because why not? Also, if I don’t photograph something, I most likely won’t remember it happening (hence why I have no recollection of Saturday) Sad but true! Oh and we also played Cards Against Humanity which I had never played before anddddd it was pretty funny.
I wanted a guy pic and this was the best I got. Ian, Miguel, Ezekiel
FRIENDS Carleigh, Karly, Zoe and Richelle 🙂
And that about sums it up! All and all a fun weekend with awesome weather and good company!
Q: What did you eat on the 4th? Where did you go to watch fireworks?
