Happy New Year’s Eve! As 2013 comes to an end, I want to take a moment to reflect on the past year. In 2013 I….
- Started The Almond Eater in April (but barely wrote)
- Graduated from college in May
- Miguel and I celebrated our 2 year anniversary in May
- I got my first big girl job in July
- Miguel and I moved in together in August
- I began taking blogging more seriously in September
But what made me want to take blogging more seriously? What made me want to write on an almost-daily basis?
For one, I loved the blogging community. I loved it way before I started The Almond Eater, and I continue to love it today. I have been fortunate enough to meet Alisha and Becky in person, which only makes me more eager to see who else I’ll be fortunate enough to meet (not that I don’t like communicating with everyone via the internet because obviously I do, but meeting the person behind the blog is just plain cool if you ask me).
Another reason is because I love learning from other bloggers in the healthy living community. We all have our share of knowledge, but you can never learn too much (especially because there are constantly new findings). I swear I learn something new every day from a different blogger, and I LOVE that. Keep it comin’ in 2014 guys! 😉
I enjoy writing, photography, exercise and eating healthy, and though I have plenty of room for improvement, and I can proudly say that even within the 4 short months that I’ve been [seriously] blogging, I’ve been doing just that. Practice makes perfect, right? My blog holds me accountable—accountable for exercise and accountable for making my own meals. You have no idea how excited I get when a recipe actually turns out, or when I take a picture and it’s “picture perfect”, or when I accomplish something at the gym that I never thought I could do. Pure bliss. And I get even more excited to share it with you all. I’m sure you can relate.
One last reason for why I blog is that it’s a fun hobby. Everyone needs a hobby or two, and during the few months after I graduated I felt hobbyless (that’s totally a word…). Do you know what it’s like to be hobbyless? Super boring.
After I began working 9-5 pm, I would come home, go to the gym, and sit and watch TV. Every. Single. Night. Snorefest! I remember thinking,
Erin, you started a blog, you’re obviously bored, why not actually write?
Mehhh but what if no one likes me?
Ohhhh who cares. Someone out there will like you.
Once again my inner dialogue at its finest. I can say with confidence that I am so happy that I started blogging and I’m anxious to see what 2014 has in store, both for my blog and for my life in general ☺
Oh, and just in case you’re totally lost with what to wear for tonight’s festivities, check out this outfit inspiration. Xoxo
Q: Why did you start your blog? If you don’t blog, would you ever consider it? What are your plans for this evening?
