Happy hump day! I know it’s already Wednesday, but I wanted to share some photos from this past weekend. Why? Because it was an eventful one!
Friday
Miguel took the day off Friday so we could have a day date. Though we’ve completely adjusted to having different schedules, it doesn’t mean we always love it since we inevitably don’t get to spend as much time together. Having the entire day together was awesome! The morning started with brunch at Coca Cafe. I ordered the Avocado Omelet, and it was fabulous.
Following brunch, we popped home to grab Layla and then headed to Frick Park, aka my new favorite place in the city. Frick Park is ginormous, and up until last week I had only really explored a tiny portion of it. We spent two hours hiking the trails and letting Layla explore. I think she loved it just as much as we did and, not surprisingly, she loved the water.
After we arrived home from the park, we sort of did our own thing—Miguel got a haircut and did work-related things and I did some blog work before heading off to yoga. Though Miguel had originally told me he was going to come to yoga with me, he backed out last minute, saying that he was going to stay home and clean the apartment. I was disappointed for approximately two seconds before agreeing. That’s my kind of a trade off!
Saturday
Saturday was a big day—it was my brother Justin’s college graduation! Miguel woke up, grabbed coffee and headed to Consol Energy Center where the graduation was held. We met my family there and watched him walk the stage—I guess he’s official now.
After graduation we headed to lunch with my dad, and then dinner with my mom’s side of the family. Somewhere in between, Miguel’s best friend from home met up with us and joined us for dinner. He was in town for THE FIGHT, which I’ll get to in a moment. Lunch was eaten at Houlihan’s in Station Square, while dinner was at Olive Garden—both very delicious!
If you’re a long-time reader, you may remember this post from last year, when we had friends over to watch a boxing fight. Well, this past weekend was no different. New apartment and some new friends, but same concept. If you are unfamiliar with what I’m talking about, the Mayweather vs. Pacquiao fight was this past Saturday night, and it was repordently the biggest fight in YEARS. I’m not personally a boxing fant, but after being forced to watch a few over the past several years thanks to my dear fiancé, I can get pretty into it when I want to. Regardless of the end result, the night turned out to be a fun-filled one thanks to those who showed up to watch.
Clearly Layla would rather make out with boys than watch boxing..
As for Sunday, it was pretty typical. We ended up going to Frick Park AGAIN because the weather was beautiful AGAIN, and then grocery shopping—the usual. I hope you all had a fabulous weekend too, and a great rest of today!
Q: Were you aware of the FIGHT?! Do you enjoy seeing posts like this, or do you prefer recipe/fitness posts?
Looks like you had a great weekend!! I was aware of the fight, but didn’t watch it. I read and heard though that it was a bit disappointing. Hope this weekend is just as fun! And congrats to your brother!

I love seeing all of the Layla pics! She is getting so big! I love the one of her licking your friends face during the fight- so funny!
And yes, I was well aware of the fight. Luckily Brandon wasn’t that intrigued by it so I got a free pass. 🙂
I’m glad you had a nice weekend and congrats to your brother on his graduation!

Wait there was a fight that was planned and orchestrated? All the fights I have been hearing about on the telly have not been fun at all!
What looks like fun is Frick Park – it’s gorgeous! Also, is it just me, or has Layla grown a bunch?
