Ahhhh my weekend was a good’in and I hope yours was too! Saturday Miguel and I decided to go to the Pittsburgh Zoo. He had never been and I hadn’t gone in a few years so we figured why not? I think the zoo is enjoyable for all ages. I could bombard you with animal photos but I’ll keep them to a minimum.
He posed for the camera–thanks Simba!
I wanted to pet him.
After a lot of walking, we decided to stop at one of our favorite restaurants called Shady Grove.
This place has a TON of options and every time I go I try to get something new. This time I tried the Summer Chicken sandwich: grilled chicken, mango salsa, lettuce, honey citrus dressing, and a side salad. MMMMMM.
After dinner we may or may not have proceeded to watch hours of Breaking Bad. I’M NOT SORRY it was awesome and the show just keeps getting better and better.
After a night of bummin’ around we decided to wake up Sunday morning and head to the gym. I’m trying to take it easy (as instructed by my physical therapist, which I will fill you guys in on after my next visit), so I did some cardio followed by ab work. After the gym, we both wanted to try horchata lattes, which were surprisingly good. I really like Horchata but I was a bit skeptical of what the latte would taste like—I’m glad it didn’t disappoint.
Meal prep this weekend consisted of BBQ “meatballs” and rice, buffalo salmon (thanks Alisha!), roasted asparagus, and baked broccoli rice cups. I say “meatballs” because they are meatless meatballs that I found at Trader Joe’s. I gotta say, they’re not nearly as good as regular meatballs and I probably won’t be buying them again, but they’re alright, especially covered in BBQ sauce.
All and all I’d say it was a good weekend!
Q: What did you meal prep this week? What’s your favorite zoo animal? Do you have a go-to restaurant?
Shady Grove is definitely my go-to restaurant–I went three times this past week. …..that’s way more than usual but I decided to be social this week 🙂
