This Summer Charcuterie Board features meats, cheeses and fresh fruit to please any and all guests at your next party or event, and the assembly is surprisingly fun.

Ohhh I am SO excited for this post, both the recipe and the event recap and just to be partnering with Dietz and Watson in general. First, let’s talk about cheese/charcuterie/appetizer boards, shall we? To put it simply, they’re the best. To be a little more specific as to why they’re the best, it’s because they’re completely customizable! This summer charcuterie board features summertime favorites like strawberries, peaches, apricots, and asparagus, which pair perfectly with the meats from Dietz and Watson and cheese too of course. Seriously, this charcuterie board may be one of the easiest summertime recipes. It requires ZERO cooking skills—all you really need to do is assemble the board, which is surprisingly fun in my opinion.
Speaking of Dietz and Watson, I attended an event hosted by them at Morcilla last week and it was so.much.fun. In attendance were five bloggers including myself and five members of the Dietz and Watson team. It was a lot of fun to get to know fellow local bloggers and to talk with the brand about their vision, which I’m excited to tell you about.
Essentially, Dietz and Watson is all about bringing families together for mealtime, even if we’re “too busy” or don’t have time. When many people think of meal time, they automatically believes is has to be something elaborate, but it doesn’t! It can be of course, but it can also be something simple like sandwiches or heck, even a charcuterie board. Growing up, my family always ate dinner around the table, and to this day, Miguel and I try to eat dinner together most nights of the week. I love it and believe it brings families together.
But now to the event! Like I mentioned, the Dietz and Watson dinner was hosted at Morcilla, a restaurant located in the trendy Lawrenceville neighborhood that’s owned by renowned chef Justin Severino and his wife. For the event, Justin used Dietz and Watson products in all of the courses, which I thought was pretty cool.
The night started with some small snacks and cocktails that were on the regular Morcilla menu, my personal favorite being the lavender-infused pumpkin seeds !!! Ugh, I’m already dying to recreate these because they were SO good. Our next course was a green garlic and dandelion soup topped with gouda and the texture freak inside of me was geeking out. Essentially it was a liquid soup topped with foam-like cheese. ….ha that sounds so gross. Let’s try that again. It was a super flavorful blended soup with cheese on top. I’m not sure how the chef did it, but cheese on top reminded me of the texture of foam on top of hot coffee. Anyway, it was surprisingly tasty and really filling too.
Our next course was a cavatelli mortadella and it was probably my favorite of the night. It featured noodles, asparagus, mortadella, and pistachios, and was followed by a dish consisting of summer sauerkraut, shredded honey cured ham and smoked fingerling potatoes. Last but certainly not least was dessert, aka goat cheese panna cotta topped with strawberry sorbet and candied walnuts. We were all so full but our bellies were very, very happy and I ended the night grateful for being a part of the event.
GIVEAWAY: you—yes YOU—could win this exact same dinner and experience! I’m providing details on how at the end of this post.
Along with attending the event, I wanted to create my own #ChoosetheTable meal using Dietz and Watson products, and a summer charcuterie board seemed like a fun and timely thing to make. They’re SUPER easy and Dietz and Watson makes it even easier.
PS I know I didn’t include it in this recipe, but if you’re a fan of chicken sausage and have yet to try Dietz and Watson’s asiago spinach chicken sausage, you must! I picked some up at Giant Eagle recently and it miiiiiight be my new fave.
