Hi guys! I hope you allllllll had Memorial Day off and were able to enjoy a beautiful 3-day weekend! I know I did 🙂 Today Davida posted about her weekend and talked about how, even though weekend recaps have nothing to do with health and fitness, they are always fun to look back on and I couldn’t agree more. I love reading them, I love writing them and I hope you guys feel the same way.
Friday evening Miguel and I went to Schenley Park, a very large nearby park and got our workout in. Since I’m not much of a runner one of my favorite things to do while we’re there is run the steps. It’s a great workout, and the view isn’t too bad either.
Saturday morning I was greeted by my friend from college, Shay, who was visiting for the weekend. We started our morning off at Square Cafe, a restaurant I had been wanting to try out. It was soooooo good and we were both very pleased.
GF pancakes with caramelized bananas
After breakfast we headed over to our friends Richelle and Karly’s apartment. Karly recently bought a grill so we decided to sit outside, enjoy the weather and grill chicken and veggies!
I swear everything tastes better on the grill. After an afternoon of grilling, we had made plans to go to Wooden Door Winery, a winery about 40 minutes outside of Pittsburgh. I’d never been to a winery before but I gotta say I loved it! Not only was it adorable (can wineries be adorable?), but the weather was perfect which was just an added bonus. Plus everything is fun when you’re surrounded by good company.
It was a really nice evening and I loved being able to see so many friends.
Since I loved Square Cafe so much Saturday morning I decided to take Miguel there Sunday morning and yes, he loved it too! I ordered the exact same thing #solame, along with this iced white mocha.
After breakfast we spent the afternoon at the Tanger Outlets and bought a few goodies! No photos buuuut I will say that some stores were having awesome deals thanks to Memorial Day. Ballin’! <<does anyone still say that?
Anddddd lastly… Memorial Day! Today started with a workout and was followed by an afternoon at the Carnegie Museum of Natural History because Miguel had never been. If you’re ever in Pittsburgh—go! It’s such a cool museum and they switch out the exhibits every few months so there’s always something new to see. They are currently doing an exhibit on race, which I found pretty interesting.
Andddd for dinner we headed to Mad Mex where I opted for a quesadilla because that’s all I ever get at Mexican restaurants (what? I love them).
This one had chicken, zucchini, spinach, tomatoes and cheese. MMMMM.
And that about wraps up my weekend! Friend time+boyfriend time+good eats+good weather=fabulous weekend. Enjoy the rest of your day!
Q: What did you eat on Memorial Day? Have you ever been to a winery?
