Sweet, tangy and loaded with vitamin C, this Kumquat and Blood Orange Smoothie will give you energy all morning long!
Tangy smoothie is exactly what this is, in the best way possible of course. What better way to celebrate Friday than with a blood orange smoothie? Well, alcohol clearly, but that’s not the answer I’m going for.
I’ve slowly been surely crossing things off my wedding to-do list. Emphasis on “slowly”. One thing I’ve learned about wedding planning is that my indecisive and easily stressed personality doesn’t do so well with having to add “wedding planning” to my never-ending to do list. Don’t get me wrong, it’s fun in many aspects, but there’s just SO much that goes into it! I’ve been following a wedding timeline I found on Pinterest, which breaks down tasks according to 6 months out, 5 months out, 4 months out, etc., which has been HUGELY helpful. Things on my February to-do list?
Buy wedding shoes: Haven’t done this yet and I’m not sure I’m going to. I did determine what kind of shoes I’m wearing though, which counts for something. I’m 92% sure I’m wearing flats instead of heels. Why, you ask? Two reasons: 1) I prefer flats over heels 2) I want to be comfortable 3) Miguel’s short and I don’t want to be as tall or taller than him in photos 4) My wedding dress isn’t overly fancy (think casual chic), so heels aren’t a total necessity. I know that was more than two reasons, but I felt the need to explain since I’m not sure many people opt for flats (or do they?? I really have no idea).
Dress alterations: Nope. I need to research places to get it altered that aren’t crazy expensive. If anyone is in the Pittsburgh area and knows of a place, I’d love to know!
Hair and make up appointment: Yes! My MOH (maid of honor) is Type-A on top of her shit 24/7 and already has a salon booked for me, my bridesmaids, my mom & future mother-in-law to get our hair and make up done the morning of the wedding. Woo!
In summary, I have 10 days to get my dress altered. I got this.
Oh and PS I promise to do a full wedding post with in the next two weeks or so. It’s long overdue!
Let’s talk about this smoothie real quick. Have you had kumquats? They’re adorable and tangy and really good in a smoothie if you weren’t aware. I know I already created a Vitamin C Smoothie, but this could also be a vitamin C smoothie. I mean, oranges, strawberries, raspberries, and kumquats? That’s 290% of your daily value, if Google and my mathematical calculations are correct. Even if they’re not correct, that’s a LOT of vitamin C!
This blood orange smoothie is sweet, tart, loaded with vitamin C and has a slightly coconut-y flavor thanks to the use of coconut milk and shredded coconut. Speaking of shredded coconut, make sure the blend the smoothie for at least 20 seconds, preferably 30, allowing time for the shredded coconut to blend up all the way.
Other than that, just enjoy!

Q: Do you like kumquats? Married people- did you love or hate wedding planning? Pittsburghers- any suggestions on where to get my wedding dress altered?
Do you peel the kumquats?
Nope! You can just throw them in the blender as-is
This smoothie is absolutely stunning! Loving the blood oranges this time of year!
Good luck finding an alterer (is that a word?) for your dress! I wish I knew of one in the city!

My dad and I were grocery shopping once and wanted some “new” fruit, so we picked up kumquats! They’re not part of my regular rotation, but I love them and think they’re super underused! I’d never have thought to add them to a smoothie, but I’m not sure why – they’re super flavorful 🙂

I think you are handling everything so well! Keeping up with blogging alone is a shit storm and planning a wedding on top of that is just pure craziness. My blog suffered big time when I was planning mine. But about the flats, I think that’s a great choice! I had the same issues, Bran is only a few inches taller than me and I wanted to be comfortable. It was the best decision ever. I wore Steve Madden sandals with rhinestones on them. Nothing fancy but they did the job!
This smoothie is so purdy! I’ve actually never had a kumquat, I need to get on that!
Good luck with all your wedding planning!! It does sound a little stressful but I’m sure it’s very exciting!! 😀

I’ve never had kumquats!! I feel like I’m missing out. And holy.snap the colour of this smoothie is just gorgeous and making me super thirsty. I just chugged down a huge mug of coffee, so I’m feeling dehydrated and smoothies are looking extra good. And oh man. I couldn’t even imagine how much work goes into wedding planning. I get horribly overwhelmed with stuff like that so I’ll probably just end up eloping 😆

All the to-do items are one of the main reasons I ran off to Mexico to get married. I’m also so glad we didn’t have Pinterest when I was getting married cause I would’ve gone waaay overboard haha. It’s all so worth it in the end, though, and I can’t wait to see pics from when yours happens!

Pinterest definitely doesn’t help my indecisive self that’s for sure! Buuuuut it is a really helpful visual search tool, so I like it for that reason.
I have not had a kumquat but I adore their name! I would say I’d like to name a future pet Kumquat, but I’m not sure that is something Drew would go for… the inevitable nicknames are clearly not appropriate. But these photos are stunning and I am obsessed with all the colors.
To answer your question as a married person and having to go through wedding planning, I’d say it was a 60% hate, 40% love :-p

Hahah I’d say our planning percentages are pretty similar 😉 and I actually love the name Kumquat so make sure you use that to your advantage when you’re arguing your point.
I’ve forgotten all about kumquats! Haha! But they are so cute!! My dad introduced me to them when I was super young and I’ve loved them since!

I JUST tried them for the first time last year. I don’t eat them all the time but they sure are good, especially in smoothie form 😀
