As Dorothy says…”There’s no place like home,” and I couldn’t agree more.
Over the weekend, Miguel and I went to Ohio to visit my parents. There’s something about being home that just feels so comfortable. I’m not even a homebody, but it’s the feeling of knowing an area so well you could navigate it blindfolded. Some of my favorite things about being home include:
My bed. I’m not sure if I will ever sleep as well in a bed other than my childhood twin bed. It’s just so comfy. Plus, the room is dark because of my curtains so I usually get a good 10 hours of sleep when I’m at home 😉
Corn fields. Ok this is a little weird, but since living in the city, I actually miss corn fields. And grass. And open land in general. It’s something I always took for granted that I now crave. All I have now is a sad patch of grass for a front yard and that’s about as much grass as I ever see, and I most definitely do not see corn fields anymore.
Zero traffic. Ahhhh, large city traffic vs. small suburban traffic–so very, very different. I used to get frustrated with the traffic back in Ohio, but now I realize that was NOTHING. I didn’t know how good I had it! I would trade my Ohio traffic for my Pittsburgh traffic any day.
Mom’s home cooked meals. Need I say more? As much as I love to cook and experiment in the kitchen, it’s so nice to have a weekend off and let mom do the cooking’, just like the good ole days.
Another thing I loved about this particular weekend?
Getting to meet Alisha from Alisha’s Appetite! We discovered that she lives 10 minutes away from my house back home, which is pretty crazy, weird and awesome! Needless to say, we had a great time chatting about blogging and life, and will hopefully get to hang out again the next time I come to Ohio.
That about wraps up my weekend!
Q: What do you love most about being home? If you don’t live at home, how often do you go home?
