Yesterday I posted a workout so it only makes sense that I post a smoothie recipe today. Why? Because smoothies are the perfect post-workout fuel. And the perfect breakfast. And the perfect afternoon snack. And perfect for late-night cravings. ….Um, yeah, I like smoothies.
I remember the first time I heard of a “green smoothie”…talk about being weirded out. Who wants to drink a green smoothie?! Especially the ones that look like a nasty shade of green and brown? No thanks. Once I eventually gave one a try, I realized that you couldn’t even taste the “green” part of the smoothie and immediately made a 180 with my viewpoint on them and haven’t looked back since! What a sneaky, sneaky way to get your spinach in, I thought. I’ve done lots of experimenting with green smoothies and, though there are several great flavor combos, this one happens to be my favorite.
Yeah, I posted a chia recipe on Thursday and here they are again today. What can I say? I love my chia. Except for chai lattes—they’re just ok (and not really the same thing…). As much as I love my sugar (and I do), I often find chia lattes a bit too sweet for my liking. At least the kind at Starbucks, which I think are the only kind I’ve tried. Are they always that sweet? I need to know.
Whoaaaaakay, back on track. Smoothies. Yes. So besides spinach and chia seeds, this smoothie also contains strawberries and bananas because I think strawberry-banana is a classic and delicious smoothie combination. Who doesn’t like a strawberry banana smoothie? I mean, it might not be everyone’s first choice, but I’ve always been a fan.
Then there’s honey, and boyyyy do I love honey. The funny (or not-so-funny) thing is that I hate bees. Like, HATE bees. But without bees there would be no honey and then this smoothie wouldn’t taste as good and I would be sad. Sooooo, I guess the bees can stay. Honey in this smoothie is like the cherry on top of a sundae: not SO necessary, but it kinda completes the whole meal.
Aight, aight, aight, enough jibber jabber about this smoothie—just go on and see for yourself!
