Puppy Chow just got a holiday twist! This Chocolate Peppermint Puppy Chow is made with Chex cereal covered in peanut butter, chocolate, peppermint oil, and candy cane pieces—the perfect holiday snack!
This month is the month of CHOCOLATE, though I think this is my first chocolate peppermint recipe. What’s up with that? I was all about the gingerbread this year and totally neglected the peppermint. BUT, not anymore.
Let’s face it: you probably have at least one holiday party to attend and I’m going to guess you’re still debating what to bring. Should you make a dessert? Is everyone else making a dessert? Maybe you should bring a fruit platter instead. <<< don’t. Bring this puppy chow recipe! It’s festive, it takes approximately 5 minutes to make and I don’t know a single person who doesn’t love puppy chow.
On a similar but different note, while I was taking these photos I thought it was be an ADORABLE idea to have Layla sticking her paws in the chow. Because PUPPY chow…ya know…. get it? Then as I was going through and editing these photos I just couldn’t because dog finger nails apparently freak me out. It was just her paw sort of sitting on top of the bowl (yes I made Miguel hold her paw in place… best assistant ever) and what was supposed to be cute ended up kinda grossing me out. EDIT: I’m showing you anyway because it’s kind of cracking me up. Are you ready? PREPARE YOURSELF.
HAHA I’m still cracking up. Don’t stare at it too long or you’ll start judging me (….probably too late).
Hopefully you get the idea. It’s human puppy chow that dogs want but can’t have.
Perhaps I should probably stop assuming you know what puppy chow is. Is there anyone reading who hasn’t had puppy chow before? If so, let me explain:
It starts with Chex cereal being covered in melted peanut butter and chocolate and then coated in powdered sugar. This particular recipe also has a bit of peppermint oil and candy cane pieces to make it the perfect holiday treat.
Ohhhhh and I also added in almonds because I was trying to pretend like this is healthy. It’s not, but the almonds do help ish. Almonds always help.
Make this recipe and whatever you do, don’t give it to your dog. Honestly, you’re not going to want to ‘cause you’re just going to want it all to yourself, which is when you know it’s a really good recipe.Print
