OH HAYYYY it’s Friday! I’m especially excited for this Friday because today is the day that Miguel gets his wisdom teeth out. Mwahaha. I had mine taken out in high school, but he’s been avoiding it for quite some time. But, you can only avoid it for so long and today is the day. Ok so I might be a little more excited than he is. Anyway, if you’re reading this early Friday morning, that’s what I’m doing!
If there’s one thing that’s true it’s that I’m not an app whore. ….meaning I don’t have a ton of apps on my iPhone. HOWEVER, I like to think that I know how to choose wisely because even though I don’t have a ton of apps, I think the ones I do have are of high quality. Today I wanted to share five of my favorite apps that I think we ALL could benefit from.
Songza is comparable to Pandora, only as far as discovering new music goes, it’s way better. Pandora bases your music choices off of specific artists, whereas Songza bases your music choices off of your mood. You can also choose from specific genres if you’d like, but I personally love browsing the different moods listed. Some of my favorites include ‘going out with friends’, ‘drinking gourmet coffee’, ‘working out’, and ‘road trip’. From there, it presents you with three solid playlists to fit your mood. …I’m making it sound complicated aren’t I? It’s not at all, I promise! It’s a super fun way to find music you’re actually in the mood for.
2. No Wait
This app is quickly becoming one of my favorites. I used to intern in the same building as No Wait back when it was a baby start up, and I’m 99% certain that they’ve probably outgrown that building since. The No Wait app allows prevents you from having to wait in the restaurant lobby to get seated. Instead, you can enter in your information into the app and then wait at home. A quick walk through…. You first open the app and search for participating restaurants (that is, restaurants that use the No Wait app). If you find one you’re interested in dining at, you’ll enter how many people are in your party FINISH THIS It will also read ‘now seating’ if the restaurant doesn’t currently have a wait. Pretty cool if you ask me!
As a blogger, I feel obliged to include this on the list. Bloglovin is a blog-reader, meaning you can find all of your favorite blogs in one place. Just search for a blog, click ‘follow’ and then when that blog has new posts it will pop up on your Bloglovin feed! An organized way to blog reading. Speaking of Bloglovin, if you aren’t already, you can follow me here. Sorry, I had to… As always, thank you for your support!
4. Square Sized
I’m sure there are a million different apps that do this exact thing, but I can absolutely attest to the simplicity of Square Sized. It’s pretty cut and dry, and I like that. You know those Instagram accounts that contain a lot of white space, almost as if their photos have a large white border around them? That’s thanks to apps like Square Sized. It’s an artsy way to crop your photos.
I included this one last because I haven’t actually used it yet… WHATTTT?! Let me explain. Vinted is an app that I heard about through a friend (like many great apps) and it’s like a virtual Plato’s Closet. If you aren’t familiar with Plato’s Closet, it’s a store that will pay you for your gently used clothing items. Vinted allows you to snap photos of clothing that you don’t want anymore, set a price for them, and then users all around the country can bid on them. Once someone says they will pay your asking price, you get alerted and then can mail them the item they requested. Talk about an easy way to make a little extra cash! Who doesn’t have clothing they need to get rid of?? (Well, I don’t, which is why I haven’t used the app yet…. damn that last Goodwill trip).
Hopefully you found at least one new app to download today. Like I said, I try to keep my apps to a minimal, but I find these ones to be especially helpful/unique/awesome. Happy downloading!
Q: What’s an app you’d recommend to anyone and everyone?
