These layered Strawberry Peach Slushies are the perfect way to celebrate summertime. They combines peaches and tequila with strawberries, basil and wine and are deliciously boozy.
Yup, hopping on the boozy slushy train and never coming off because hello summer and hello HEAT. Guys I’m pretty excited that it’s Friday, yet I’m also confused as to where the week went?! Fastest week ever in my opinion.
Ok so clearly these strawberry peach slushies aren’t Whole30, so if you want to keep them Whole30…ish…simply omit the wine and use water instead. Not the healthiest recipe ever but it is just blended fruit+basil, making this recipe just as easy as the granita I recently shared. Apparently I’m feeling the blended fruit this summer.
I feel like every Friday post I talk about my weekend, so a quick “to-do” if you will… tonight Miguel and I are doing nothing.. ok this is going to be a really low-key weekend, as are most of my weekends. Though I love weekend plans, I also enjoy having the weekend to work a bit, but mostly wind down from the week. Anyway, I think Saturday we’re just planning on going to dinner and then watching a movie and/or maybe starting Glow on Netflix. Has anyone watched it? I’ve been hearing good things. Then Sunday we’re headed up to Ohio to celebrate my dad’s birthday, so crossing my fingers for good weather.
And that’s that! Now let’s talk about these fruity layered slushies.
You don’t have to layer them, but look how pretty they turn out! The first layer is simply tequila, water and frozen peaches (or sub pineapple), and the second layer is strawberries, basil and wine. Yes, I mixed tequila and wine into a single drink. Sorry? You can absolutely use just wine if you prefer! I myself prefer tequila over wine (I KNOW that’s weird, but it’s true!), so I wanted to find a way to combine the popular wine slushy with my love for tequila.
Basically you blend up the first layer and pour it into the cups, then rinse out your blender and blend up the second layer. Note: The layers won’t stay perfectly separated as you can see from the photos—the colors will be more swirled together. Still pretty though if you ask me!
Drink up, friends!
- For the red layer:
- 2 cups rosé
- 2 cups frozen strawberries
- 5 large basil leaves
- 8 ice cubes
- For the yellow layer:
- ½ cup tequila (or use more rosé)
- ½ cup water
- 1½ cup frozen peaches OR pineapple
- Combine all "red layer" ingredients into a blender and pulse; pour evenly into glasses.
- Rinse out the blender and then combine all "yellow layer" ingredients and blend until smooth.
- Top the red layer with the yellow layer, but know that the layers won't stay perfect, as you can see from the photos.
