Prepare a jar of Red, White and Blue Overnight Oats the night before and enjoy them the next morning. Three layers make up this delicious breakfast—strawberries, yogurt and blueberries—for a nutritious meal.

Anywhooooo, I’m guessing that’s not why you’re here. You probably want to talk about oats. Or the Fourth of July. Or the weekend? That’s me not knowing what I want to talk about (indecisive much..) but I do know what I am extremely sore from teaching, which is borderline embarrassing considering I only did about 10% of the actual workout. So..awesome. Nothing overly eventful happened yesterday. I got my grocery shopping done before 9:39 a.m. <<why is this a weekend highlight? So sad. I also created a delicious chocolate cookie recipe which I’m hoping to share next week and Angela came over last night for dinner 😀
But now onto the FOOD.
Looking back on my past few recipes and the upcoming recipes I have planned, it’s pretty clear that I’ve been loving on breakfast foods lately. And by “loving on” I mean that I can’t seem to make up my mind on what I want! Some days I want eggs, other days chia pudding, other days toast and other days oats! Indecisive breakfast diva, or perhaps I just enjoy variety. Yes, that’s it.
These oats should obviously be made on the Fourth of July, but they should really be made all summer long because SUMMER PRODUCE IS EVERYTHING. Seriously though, why is summer produce so much better than winter produce? Berries just make me happier than apples and there’s nothing I can do about it. Give me strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, and watermelon every day and I’m a happy camper. These oats use strawberries and blueberries and…YOGURT, again. Dairy free yogurt of course, but I guess I’m on a kick. As always, feel free to use your favorite brand of yogurt 🙂
Since I work at the Juice Company every Friday morning, I know I’m not going to want to wake up extra early to prepare breakfast, which is when overnight oats really come in handy for me personally. I think they always come in handy, but they’re especially convenient when I physically don’t have time to prepare breakfast. I hear people constantly make the excuse that they don’t have time for breakfast, but I just don’t think that’s true. These oats take all of 5 minutes to prep (maybe 8 mins tops) and you make them the night before. Then you take them with you in the morning and shove them in your face while driving. …..or you can wait until you get to work… whatever makes you happy.
Top with shredded coconut for an extra kick and you’ve got yourself a filling, fruit-filled breakfast that happens to also be red, white and blue. SO CUTE.Print
Red, White and Blue Overnight Oats
- Prep Time: 5 mins
- Total Time: 5 mins
- Yield: 1
- Red Layer: 1/4 cup old fashioned oats, 5 strawberries, 1/4 cup unsweetened almond milk (or any milk of choice)
- White Layer: 1 container (6 oz) plain or vanilla yogurt (I used So Delicious), 2 tbsp shredded coconut
- Blue Layer: 1/4 cup old fashioned oats, 1/2 cup blueberries/ 1/4 cup unsweetened almond milk (or any milk of choice)
- 1 tbsp shredded coconut for topping
- Slice strawberries in half.
- Combine each layer’s ingredients in 3 separate bowls (i.e. one red bowl, one white bowl and one blue bowl); stir.
- Then, layer each flavor into one jar, cup or bowl.
- Optional: top with extra coconut.
